During your time at IAB, you will need to study full time.
Full-time students typically study six modules per term, which equates to 120 UK credits. Most one-term modules are worth 20 UK credits.

Qiraa‘ah (Reading) 103
This class introduces new topics and serves to solidify material from Qira’ah (Reading) 102. Students should already be proficient in the Arabic alphabet, articulation of each letter, reading full sentences, and writing full sentences. In this course, reading, listening, and proper pronunciation are emphasized in class. Upon successful completion of this class, students should be able to:

Identify the difference between the hamzatul-wasl and hamzatul-qat^

Identify and pronounce the thick (mufakhkhamah) letters

Continue to expand, memorize, and apply the knowledge base of vocabulary words and verbs from Qira’ah (Reading) 102

Apply skills taken in Qira’ah (Reading) 102, such as:
- Identifying the two types of lam (shamsiyyah/qamariyyah) and pronouncing them correctly
- Reading complete sentences and short passages
- Understanding more meanings of words and sentences when read

Kitaabah (Writing) 203
This class continues the progression from Kitaabah (Writting) 202. Upon successful completion of this class, students should be able to:

Ta^beer (Conversation) 303
This class further expands upon the topics of Ta^bir (Conversation) 302, and is designed to teach students with proficient Arabic reading levels, the basics of Arabic speaking through grammar rules from the classic text, Al-Ajurrumiyyah. By the end of this course, students should be able to:

Identify and understand grammatical components of sentences, including:
- Al-Mubtada’ and al-Khabar
- Kaana, Inna, Dhanna
- Al-fi^l wal-faa^il wal-maf^uul
- Al-Mudaaf and al-Mudaaf Ilayhi

Sarf (Morphology) 403
This class further expands upon the topics of Sarf (Morphology) 202 with additional new topics. Students should already be proficient in the Arabic alphabet, articulation of each letter, reading, and writing. The focus is on the correct verb/pronoun conjugation. By the end of the class, students should be able to:

Identify pronouns in the independent (detached) and combined (attached) forms

Conjugate verbs in the past and present passive tense (majhul) for each of the 14 Arabic pronouns

Conjugate verbs in additional forms of negation and prohibition (mansub and majzum) for each of the applicable Arabic pronouns

Continue to develop, memorize, and apply a knowledge base of select vocabulary words and verbs

Further refine the skills learned in Sarf (Morphology) 202, such as:
- Know and identify masculine and feminine nouns in their singular, dual, and plural forms
- Differentiate between masculine and feminine forms of nouns
- Conjugate verbs in the past (al-madi), present/future (al-mudari^), and imperative tenses for each of the applicable Arabic pronouns
- Compose sentences using verbs in the past (al-madi), present/future (al-mudari^), and imperative (al-’amr) tenses
- Compose sentences using the Arabic pronouns in the combined (attached) form

NaHwu (Grammar) 503
Learning the science of Arabic grammar is a religious, communal obligation because it opens the door to understanding the Qur’an and the hadith.
The student of knowledge must be proficient in Arabic grammar in order to facilitate the study of the Islamic areas of knowledge on which they are based. Al-Ajurrumiyyah, named for its author, is a text in the science of Arabic grammar which is very concise, yet rich and encompassing.
The Scholars embraced and placed great importance upon this particular text which illuminates the path for a student of grammar and opens the door for him to understand the most important principles of grammar, acting as the basis for his future linguistic pursuits.
The one who masters the principles of Al-Ajurrumiyyah has a solid foundation for attaining each more detailed subject of Arabic knowledge. Topics covered include:
